If you smell gas, immediately put out all smoking materials and any open flames. In addition, don't use any lights, telephones, appliances or cell phones as sparks or flames from these devices may trigger an explosion or fire. If you smell propane gas that you think might be leaking, immediately leave the area and get everyone out of the area or the building where you suspect that gas might be leaking.
Once you've left the area, you should try to shut off the main gas supply valve on your propane tank or meter, if it is safe to do so. When you have exited the area and are a safe distance from the source of the gas smell, you should report the leak from a neighbor's home or other nearby location by calling Turner Propane immediately. If you can't reach your propane retailer, call 911 or your local the fire department immediately. More than anything, don't re-enter the building until your propane retailer or the fire department has determined that it is safe to proceed.
Finally, you should always have a trained and qualified service technician from your local propane retailer check your entire system and any of your propane appliances to be sure they remain completely leak free before you attempt to use any of them.
